課程概述

這門為政論組進階學程設計的必修課，目的是在引導同學藉由閱讀有關「政治發展與民主化」的相關學說與經驗研究來思考什麼是對開發中國家人民來說理想的政治生活。 課程設計將包括閱讀與實作，除了對相關文獻的了解，特別希望同學經由分組的實際操作可以獲得初步研究的樂趣與能力。  

課程目標
 目的是在引導同學藉由閱讀有關「政治發展與民主化」的相關學說與經驗研究來思考什麼是對開發中國家人民來說理想的政治生活。 
課程要求
 （1）課堂參與（5％）
（2）分組報告（60％）
─課堂指定閱讀報告（8組） ─ 大意與問題（20％）
─民主政體的世界分布與經濟發展的關係（4組） ─ 民主評分與經濟發展的關係之回歸線與簡單解釋（10％）
─區域內單一國家案例報告（8組）─（1）基本資料（人口、經濟型態、族群宗教）；（2）民主化的時間與過程；（3）當前民主體制所面對的問題（30％）
（3）分組互評（5％）
（4）期末報告（30％）
─選擇一個主題在過去十年的Journal of Democracy找出文獻列一分書單，並選擇其中你認為最重要的五篇文章，將摘要翻譯成中文。
